Frankie McAvoy and Dean Kiely will be replaced permanently at Norwich City, as Daniel Farke’s backroom staff continues to take shape.

The pair both mutually agreed to leave during the past week and McAvoy has, as expected, since been confirmed as part of former Canaries boss Alex Neil’s coaching staff at Preston North End.

Kiely, who was goalkeeper coach and responsible for set-pieces under Neil, followed later in the week but Farke is comfortable with the situation.

“For sure we are looking for permanent solutions,” City’s head coach said. “We’ve got Eddie (Wooten) from our academy right now who works with the goalkeepers pretty good, I’m really content and he does a great job.

“I think it’s always important to trust in your academy, we didn’t only want to develop players but guys from the coaching team too.

“I’m pretty content that we have him and there’s no time pressure for a solution and we will watch pretty carefully for who is best for this job.”

Farke brought Eddie Riemer across with him from Borussia Dortmund II when he was appointed in May, as assistant head coach, and City’s other former first team coach Alan Irvine departed soon after having finished last season as interim head coach.

Head of sports science Nick Davies was next to make way and was replaced by Chris Domogalla, with Christian Flüthmann also joining as first team coach, the German duo following Farke and Riemer across from Dortmund.

“Sometimes it is best to say after two weeks and not two days, but not two months, so we sat down in the beginning and said let’s have a trial, to try to figure out what is best for all of us and I also think this is a quite normal decision,” Farke explained of Kiely’s exit.

“I had two really quite goods weeks with Dean, he’s a good guy, he did a lot for this club and did a good job, so I think it is quite normal that when you have a new beginning you have to work with the same ideas and philosophy and you have to test it a little bit – and when you think it’s better for both sides to have another decision, then I think that is quite normal and not a problem at all.”
