Norwich City Reserves 3, Brandon Ladies 0

Brandon Ladies travelled to Norwich looking for their first Eastern Region Women’s League win but were up against from the start with two late call-offs leaving them with 10 players or the first half.

The home side pressured the Brandon goal early on but credit to the visitors for working hard to limit attempts on goal. Mid way though the half Brandon had a good shout for a penalty turned down only for Norwich to counter and take the lead.

Playing into a strong wind Brandon rode their luck at times but kept within striking distance for the second half.

Half-time it was 1-0.

Back to 11 players for the second half Brandon started to create chances and take more control of the game but with Norwich always looking dangerous on the break.

With four minutes remaining and Brandon pushing for the equaliser the home side doubled their lead with a long range strike and harshly adding a third in injury time with free header from a corner.

A harsh scoreline in the end in a game the ladies will feel they could have had something from but with 10 players on the day it was always going to be an uphill task!

Colt Jags U13 1, Brandon Lasses U13 13

Brandon Lasses U13 (see team picture) got a convincing victory in the first game of the season away to Colt Jags.

Dargan opened the scoring in the first minute with a great run and superb shot. As Brandon pinned Colt Jags into their own half the chances came. Bales completed a first-half hat-trick, and both Zawiasa and Slater, both showing great skill before finishing. The Jags did pull a goal back in the first half, scoring after a direct ball through the centre of the Brandon defence. At half-time it was 6-1. The second half started with more opportunities for Brandon, Amacker hitting the cross bar from a spot kick and the Colts keeper making several great saves from one on one situations. Bales added two more in quick succession before Field added her name to the scoresheet. Superb defending supported the midfield and allowed the team to push forward. Bales added two more goals, taking her tally to seven for the day before Slater added her second from a free kick. Unselfish play from Dargan put through Skipp, who added one more for the day taking the final goal tally for the Lasses to 13.
