Diss Town has had a much better week this week with the two Ridgeons League Division One matches played yielding four points.

The home draw with March last Saturday was followed by a fine 3-2 win in the local derby at Debenham on Tuesday.

Robbie Lawrence was fouled for the first of two Diss penalties at Debenham.

He scored from the 34th minute penalty kick.

Three minutes later ex-Tangerine Stuart Jopling scored the first of his two equalisers.

Mark Shadrack played the ball forward soon after the kick off following that goal for Osiris Gomes to hit a thunderous shot from the edge of the penalty area into the net.

Jopling made it 2-2 in the 65th minute.

Four minutes later a shot from Gomes was handled by Warren Taylor-Holt. He was sent off and Adie Hayes clinched the win by scoring from the resulting penalty.

Both Diss and March Town United scored at the end of halves in which they were second best last Saturday in a 1-1 draw. Mark Camidge made a series of fine saves to deny Ashley Brand and capped those with a penalty save to deny Luke Pepper.

In first half added time Brendan Foley's header from 10 yards out at an Adie Hayes corner was deflected up into the net by a defender to put Diss ahead.

A number of good chances to increase the lead were missed and Chris Anker was forced into second half saves.

A minute from time Diss were punished when they failed to clear the ball and James Richardson equalised from 10 yards out.

Diss Reserves started their Ridgeons League North fixtures with a 5-0 home defeat to an experienced Thetford Reserves side.

Paul Mleczek scored in the second minute after Richard Ferry made two saves. The other four goals were all scored by the impressive Matthew Blake - a 22nd minute run on to a through ball, a 59th minute shot from 20 yards, a 70th minute tap in from six yards to a perfect centre and he saved the best until last with a powerful shot into the roof of the net after cutting in from the left in the 75th minute.

Diss U18s were beaten 1-0 in their final pre-season match against Lowestoft U18s in a match where both teams defended superbly.

None of the Diss teams have a match this midweek.

Next Saturday (with 3pm kick offs) there are league fixtures for the first team away at Ipswich Wanderers and the Reserves at home to Leiston Reserves.

The next Diss Town F C prize bingo will be on Monday, September 15, doors open at 7.15pm for eyes down at 8pm and the next Barry H evening is Saturday, September 13, from 8pm with hot food available. Entry is free to club members with a charge of £2 levied to all others.
