Diallang Jaiyesimi is flourishing on loan at Swindon Town this season, and is eyeing a spot in Norwich City’s first-team team in the future.

The winger joined the League Two promotion hopefuls on loan last summer, his third loan spell since signing for the Canaries from non-league outlet Dulwich Hamlet in 2016.

Jaiyesimi suffered a serious knee injury during his loan spell with Yeovil Town. His recovery continued back at City prior to joining Ritchie Wellens men.

Jaiyesimi found himself on the periphery on Town’s squad for the opening 13 fixtures of the season, named as a substitute just once.

The 21-year-old fought his way back into Wellens thought process and has emerged as a pivotal part of the Robins squad.

“The start of the season was tough; it was difficult to come off the back of a knee injury and get injured again when I started my loan. As soon as I got my chance to get in the team, I took it. I’ve been in the team every week ever since.

“I’m really pleased with my goal contributions so far this season. It was something I’ve wanted to add to my game when I arrived, it came more and more with my match fitness,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve been on quite a few loans, but this has definitely been my standout season. It hasn’t really changed the way I play; it’s just brought it out more.”

Jaiyesimi has featured 21 times for Swindon this season, scoring on four occasions, assisting once. The winger holds promotion aspirations with the Robins, but is eyeing a spot in City’s first-team squad.

Throughout his spell away from Norfolk, Jaiyesimi has stayed in contact with key personnel at the club.

“All the coaches are really supportive, they message me before a game and always see how I’m doing, Neil Adams [Loans manager] and Wrighty [David Wright Under-23s coach] especially.

“I speak to a lot of the players, mostly in the first-team who I used to play with like Ben Godfrey, Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis and Todd Cantwell, I also speak to some of the under-23s I used to play with. It’ll be good to see them when I come back!”
