City boss Glenn Roeder was handed a pre-season boost today with the news Republic of Ireland international defender Gary Doherty has signed a two-year contract.
Roeder said at his last press conference a “good offer” had been put on the table for the 28-year-old Irishman and he also spoke highly of his efforts during the last Coca-Cola Championship campaign.
“At times last season he was our most consistent player and a very safe defender,” said Roeder.
Doherty has been at Carrow Road since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2004 and he has already made 147 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.
During last season's turbulent campaign, Doherty playing his part in 39 of City's 51 fixtures.
