Norwich City defender Adam Drury is to undergo a fitness test today ahead of Saturday's clash with Leicester having suffered an elbow injury against Burnley.

The 27-year-old was forced off the field after 36 minutes of Friday's 2-0 defeat at Turf Moor after falling awkwardly. It was feared Drury could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but hospital tests revealed no serious damage had been done and should be back to face the Foxes.

“I've been running fine it's just a case of seeing how it reacts in a contact situation. I can straighten it and it feels a lot better now,” said Drury, who said the incident happened after and accidental clash with team-mate Jason Shackell which led to him hyper-extending the joint.

“It was just one of those things and it was unfortunate because we had been playing well and had created some good chances. It did mean a change of formation but we have the players to cope with instances like that.”

Drury was also not willing to throw in the towel just yet despite City's play-off hopes having taken another knock following Preston's 1-0 win over Crewe last night, which puts the Lilywhites 11 points ahead of the Canaries with just six games to play.

“There is a chance, albeit a very small one, that we can make the play-offs. We have just got to focus again and go out there and try and win football matches, simple as that,” he said.

“It's out of our hands now really and we will have to rely on results going our way, but it's important that we keep up the pressure by winning our remaining games so that we can take advantage if a team does slip up.

“We've got to look to end the season on a high and try and build on the confidence in the team. Not winning games regularly means your confidence can sometimes suffer and I suppose not having had a settled side has been a factor too.”

For the Drury the reason for City's dismal showing this season is clear, he said: “The problem has been our consistency. We've played well in patches like before Christmas and then just recently but not for a sustained period. We need to learn to win games even though we might not play at our best.

“We need to scrap and fight for points. Leeds did it against us when it looked like we were set for the three points they managed to sneak a draw and we have just not done enough of that this season.”
