Former Norwich City striker Robert Earnshaw has revealed that he would welcome a return to former club Cardiff in the summer.

The 27-year-old has barely featured for Derby this year and has seen his international prospects with Wales suffer as a result.

Earnshaw, who scored 27 times in 47 games for the Canaries before last summer's £3.5 move to Pride Park, is highly regarded at Ninian Park after becoming the club's record goalscorer and is keen to rejuvenate his career with a return to the Bluebirds.

“There will be a lot of movement in the summer, as with any club that gets relegated. I've not had much first-team football at Derby, which basically cost me my international place,” he said.

“People know what playing for Cardiff meant to me and I need regular football to rekindle my international career. The summer will be very interesting and returning to Cardiff does excite me.

“We will have to see what happens in the summer but I'm not ruling out returning to Cardiff. Never say never is the saying and stranger things have happened in football, that's for sure.”
