Even our most optimistic supporters, holding on to a glimmer of hope of reaching the play-offs, can sit back and cruise the rest of the season looking forward to another year in the Championship, with, hopefully, a better outcome.

The manner in which we succumbed at Preston really summed up our season. Not being there I had the pleasure of listening to Chris Goreham and Neil Adams on Radio Norfolk.

This sounded a very dour affair with, what appeared to be, two poor sides on the day and the only way that there was going to be a positive outcome was in the manner it was achieved.

It was just unfortunate that we were on the wrong side of the luck. I said luck, and I do mean luck, in this instance.

There has been a lot of talk about playing the younger players, now that the season is over. This has caused mixed reaction. Many supporters are calling for Nigel to give the home-grown talent a run, to see if they are good enough.

Darren Huckerby has commented that they are not good enough at present to compete at the top end of the Championship. Only time will tell as to what happens and what the long-term prognosis is.

Personally, having recently offered contracts to some of the Academy boys, I would like to see them feature in the last four games. I don't think you can play all of them, but you could give four of them a half each.

If Nigel were to do what the fans are calling for, he does face a dilemma. If he does as asked and plays the youngsters and we lose, is he going to be praised for playing the youngsters, or slated for losing the match?

I feel he is in a no win situation if he adopts this strategy.

I hope, if he does play the youngsters, the fans do understand the fact that we may not win our remaining games, however, it will give us a chance to see if they are good enough to be part of the squad that takes us up as champions next year.

I know there is nothing really to play for for the rest of this season apart from finishing above them down the road, but I urge you all to get behind the team and show them why they should give their all in the remaining games.
