Canary duo Rossi Jarvis and Chris Martin were unable to prevent England from crashing out of the European U19 Championships following a 2-1 defeat by Holland in front of a crowd of 10,482 at Coventry last night. Jarvis played the full match, while Martin came on for the final 12 minutes. By that stage England were already 2-0 down to a Scott Golbourne own goal after 29 minutes and a 71st-minute Jordy Buijs penalty. Ipswich's Danny Haynes saw a spot-kick on the stroke of half-time saved, before Hogan Ephraim of West Ham pulled back a consolation goal in stoppage time, only to be then sent off for a late challenge on Buijs.
