Norwich City midfielder Dickson Etuhu is looking forward to celebrating his first goal for the team - and is confident it will come soon.

Etuhu has looked a different player to the man who struggled in the Canaries side in the second half of last season following his £450,000 move from Preston North End.

However, he has more than played his part in City's good start to this season alongside Carl Robinson and Youssef Safri, with a string of fine displays as part of a central midfield trio.

But as the 6ft 2in former Manchester City player runs into form, he is still conscious he has yet to find the net for the yellow and greens after 19 starts and four substitute appearances.

Etuhu came close to the winner against Luton on Saturday, but his shot was brilliantly saved by the Hatters' 'keeper Marlon Beresford only for Robert Earnshaw to tuck home the rebound and bag three points at the same time.

“Believe me it surprised me that he saved that, but that the way my luck's been - it's not been very good in front of goal,” Etuhu said. “But I'm very confident that will happen soon and I'm looking forward to that feeling - celebrating a goal with the boys.

“I'm sure it will happen soon.”

Although a goal is on his mind, Etuhu has not got a celebration planned although he would cherish a moment like Earnshaw enjoyed against Luton.

“I'm not like Earnie (Earnshaw) he's crazy,” he said. “I don't know what I'll do.

“We did well to come back from 2-0 down but we were confident that we could do it and we just kept grinding out and we got the goals.”

Now he's expecting another good result at Pride Park as City go for their first away win of the season and attempt to transform last season's poor away form.

“I'm going well and the team's playing well so we just have to keep up,” Etuhu said. “They're all tricky games in this league. But we're going to go there to give it our best.”

“A win is very important for everybody's confidence - for the lads, for the fans, for the manager, for the team and the coaching staff.

“It's important to all of us but we'll go there and play well and hopefully get what we want to get.”

The midfielder puts City's positive start to the long campaign down to a “fresh start”, and like several other players, and manager Nigel Worthington, has pinpointed new coach Martin Hunter as some of the reason for the change.

“I think it's a new season,” he said. “Last season was a bad year for everybody and we've got a fresh start and new coach and everyone is buzzing. We've got everything right.”

His own form has been so good; the City faithful have started to sing his name. It's something, which unsurprisingly, has gone down well with the tall midfielder.

“It's a great feeling,” he said. “I've not really had it at this club. I've had it at previous clubs but I've not really got going at this club yet but hopefully that'll happen a lot more.”

“It's very important to me, the fans, because they help us and give us that extra buzz when they're behind us and cheering for us - it's a really good feeling.

“We didn't get that a lot last year, but this year they've been good.”
