Norwich City could find themselves in trouble with the FA after a half-time tunnel bust-up on Saturday.

Players from both sides clashed as the first half of an absorbing 2-2 draw came to a controversial close, with referee Steve Tanner certain to mention the incidents in his match report to the game's governing body.

It was sparked by the official's decision not to book visiting skipper Nicky Bailey for kicking out at Grant Holt, just a minute after City had pulled it back to 2-1. When the half-time whistle blew moments later, City boss Paul Lambert waited at the touchline to confront the referee and it appears the players carried on the argument out of sight of most of the spectators.

Asked for his account of the incident in the tunnel, Lambert said: “I never saw it.”

It was an incident-packed afternoon at Carrow Road, with City coming from 2-0 down against the morning leaders and snatching a point deep into injury-time thanks to a controversial goal by Grant Holt.

While City celebrated, stewards had to keep a group of visiting Charlton supporters from confronting home fans in the Jarrold Stand.

The draw knocked Charlton off the top of the table, but left Canaries boss Paul Lambert delighted.

“Today's performance I thought at times was colossal,” he said.
