Norwich City have announced that Frankie McAvoy has left his role as first team coach by mutual consent.
The Scot followed former City boss Alex Neil to Norfolk from Hamilton in February 2015 but had started pre-season as part of new head coach Daniel Farke’s backroom staff.
Many Canaries fans have been speculating that McAvoy will join Neil at Preston North End following his appointment at the Lancashire club last week.
A short statement on City’s website concluded: “Everybody at Norwich City would like to thank Frankie for his time at the club and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Farke brought Eddie Riemer across with him from Borussia Dortmund II when he was appointed in May, as assistant head coach, and City’s other former first team coach Alan Irvine departed soon after having finished last season as interim head coach.

Chris Badlan joined as head of European scouting and Kieran Scott joined as head of domestic scouting to replace the latter two and more changes to the coaching staff followed.
Head of sports science Nick Davies was next to make way and was replaced by Chris Domogalla, with Christian Flüthmann also joining as first team coach, the German duo following Farke and Riemer across from Dortmund.
That leaves goalkeeper coach Dean Kiely, who also had responsibility for set-pieces during Neil’s reign, and head physiotherapist Stuart Wardle as the surviving members of last season’s senior backroom staff.
