Ex-Canary winger Adrian Forbes is hoping Blackpool will be able to take out their frustration on his old club in the FA Cup tomorrow night - after their promotion challenge froze in its tracks.

The Seasiders have suffered a triple setback in League One since drawing 1-1 with Norwich City in their fourth round tie at Bloomfield Road just over a fortnight ago.

First they suffered their first home defeat since August when relegation-threatened Brentford beat them 3-1. Then their hopes of a quick return to winning ways were dashed when they suffered two postponements in the space of five days.

That has left Simon Grayson's men kicking their heels ahead of tomorrow's replay at Carrow Road (7.45pm).

Forbes, set for his first match at Norwich since leaving the Canaries nearly six years ago, said: “We've had two games off because of frozen pitches - at Oldham on Tuesday and Rotherham on Saturday.

“Training has also been difficult with the pitches up here, because it's been freezing.

“But we're travelling down early on Monday and hopefully we can get two good sessions in before the game.”

The Brentford defeat, nine days ago, ended Blackpool's unbeaten run of 14 home matches in all competitions, with the Bees scoring three times in the first half-hour.

Said Forbes: “Brentford is the only game we've played since Norwich and we just want to get back on the pitch as soon as we can.

“Against Brentford we didn't get started. They scored three goals and before we knew it, the game was over.

“We were looking to put it right at Oldham on Tuesday and again on Saturday, but they were both blank days. We just want to get back on the pitch and playing again.”

Though Forbes, 28, is thrilled to return to Norwich, he felt the tie should have been wrapped up at the first attempt.

He said: “I think we probably should have won the game. We've just got to hope we create as many chances as we did last time.

“The keeper had a great afternoon, so from that point of view we have to work him hard again and hopefully go one better this time.”

A big day out at Stamford Bridge was an added incentive to win the replay, he said.

“Chelsea is a bit of a carrot now. No one could believe it. It's the tie everyone was looking for last time round, apart from me, but we have to get past Norwich first.

“I will have a lot of friends and family there - just the 22 tickets to sort out for this game - and I suppose some of them will have mixed feelings because they are Norwich people and they want to see their team do well.

“I'm very much looking forward to it. I can't wait to get on that pitch.”

It's a long trek for Blackpool supporters for a midweek game and some may be saving their money, hoping to spend it on a weekend trip to London.

“I don't know how many will come down, with all the travelling. I think there was a special plane laid on at £180 a head, but some people are keeping their hands in their pockets in the hope they can go to Chelsea on Saturday,” said Forbes.
