They’ve got almost 1,000 Norwich City appearances between them and now five former Canaries players have welcomed five of the club’s recent debutants.

Former City players Iwan Roberts, Mark Barham, Ruel Fox, Darren Kenton and Cedric Anselin have a combined 952 appearances and 156 goals between them.

They were recently invited to the Lotus Training Centre to present framed commemorative shirts to Ibrahim Amadou, Sam Byram, Josip Drmic, Adam Idah and Patrick Roberts.

The presentations have been introduced during the reign of sporting director Stuart Webber and head coach Daniel Farke, to properly welcome players in front of their team-mates at Colney.

Canaries legend Roberts, who is City's third-highest goal-scorer after 96 goals in 306 games between 1997 and 2004, recently wrote about his visit to present Republic of Ireland Under-21 striker Idah with his shirt - when Webber invited him to speak to the squad.

Iwan Roberts: Visit to Colney brought back memories of Norwich City training days

Barham, who scored 25 goals in 223 games between 1979 and 1987, presented Switzerland international striker Drmic with his shirt, having signed on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.

Fox, who scored 25 in 219 matches and was part of the successful teams of the late 1980s and early 1990s, presented fellow winger Patrick Roberts with his memento as he embarks on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Kenton is a Canaries academy coach who made 175 appearances and scored nine goals between 1995 and 2003, and presented fellow right-back Byram with his debut shirt after a £750,000 summer switch from West Ham.

While French midfielder Anselin, who scored once in 29 games between 1998 and 2000, and is still well known by supporters as a local media pundit and manager of Norwich United, did the honours for Amadou.

Although born in Cameroon, the defensive midfielder grew up in France and emerged at Lille, before joining City on a season-long loan from Spanish side Sevilla, which could potentially be made a permanent £9million switch if City remain in the Premier League.

Fox, speaking about the event, said: "It's brilliant. I think I last came back here about 10 years ago when Bryan Gunn was in temporary charge - and the development of this place is unbelievable.

"I just feel so honoured that they've asked me to come back and have a look around the training ground, to meet the players, and the players are very appreciative of some of the old players coming back. It's important to keep the history of the club running."
