The death has been announced of former Welsh international forward Reg Davies at the age of 79.
Reg began his career at Southampton before joining Southend United. A 9,000 transfer in April 1951 then brought him to Newcastle, where he hit 50 goals in 170 games.
He failed to appear in any of the club's three Wembley FA Cup Finals during that period however, with illness robbing him of a starting place in 1955.
Moving on to Swansea Town in 1958 in part-exchange for Ivor Allchurch, he later signed for Carlisle and Merthyr Tydfil, before serving as player-manager of King's Lynn. Reg later emigrated to Australia.
