Matt Jarvis’ search for a new club appears to be over, with the former Norwich City winger set to join non-league Woking.
The move is dependent on the England international passing a second scan to test his fitness.
Jarvis' results from an initial test appear to be clear, but the National League club will make their judgement early next week.
Woking chief Alan Dobson is hoping to bolster his ranks by signing the 33-year-old who has been without a club since his contract expired at City last summer.
Jarvis was a Premier League regular with Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, before his career got plagued by injuries to his knee, hip, groin and hamstring throughout his time in Norfolk.
He spent the second-half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Walsall prior to his release. He made 21 appearances for the Canaries across a three year spell.
Swindon Town recently offered Jarvis a trial period at the club with a view to signing the winger, but decided not to recruit him due to concerns over their budget.
The ex-City man has been working hard to retain his fitness and will be hoping to get his career back on track following numerous set-backs.
"The scans have to be right," Dowson told SurreyLive. "The first one was fine and we will do another one because we couldn't risk signing Matt when he wasn't fully fit because we don't want to sign any player just for them to sit on the bench.
"I would be delighted to get him because I think he could do for the club what Clive Walker did. He could be unbelievable if we get him fit."
Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler is a first-team coach at the National League club, and it was him that made Jarvis' availability known to the Woking boss.
"It's something Martin Tyler mentioned last summer, that Matt was a free agent. He knows Matt well and went for a coffee with him to have a chat and it went from there.
"I've just followed it up really. We've met a few times. He wants to play and prove himself again."
