Michael Foulger today dismissed rumours he was about to take control of Norwich City from Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones.

The Evening News' sister paper the Pink Un has seen an incredible amount of speculation on its website messageboard over the weekend claiming that Foulger was at the head of a consortium of local businessmen about to take up the reins at Carrow Road.

“I was shown that by somebody of the weekend and there's no truth in it,” said Foulger. “I'm as gobsmacked as you.”

Foulger confirmed that Smith and Wynn Jones were still actively looking to sell the club but that he'd heard nothing to say that any deal had been done.

Foulger did reveal, however, that he was busy trying to raise some much-needed cash for Bryan Gunn's transfer window kitty.

“Yeah, yeah we're trying to do something, anything for the benefit of the club.

“Yeah, it's something that we're trying to work on all the time.

“People have said that they are willing to help, I've talked to about half a dozen people.

“We're hoping to have something available.”
