Former Canaries target Derek Riordan is a target for Leicester City according to the striker's agent.

The Celtic man has fallen down the pecking order at Parkhead and Foxes boss Martin Allen has moved for the 24-year-old after losing out to Cardiff City in the race for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Jim McArthur revealed that Leicester have been in contact with his client and expects them to follow up on their interest over the next week.

"Leicester have been in touch and I'd expect them to step it up. I've spoken with their owner Milan Mandaric over the weekend and I would like to think something could move this week.

"They went in for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and didn't get him and now they've turned their attentions to Derek."

City boss Peter Grant admitted last month that he is an admirer of Riordan but would not be going for the former Hibs man as he is not sure of his best position.

"Derek is a top quality player," said Grant.

"He is probably the best finisher at Celtic, but the problem is what position does he play?

"I don't really know if he is a striker, a second striker or if he's best wide of a three.

"His quality is without doubt and he is a player I like, but the structure in my team is the reason I won't be going in for him."
