Bungay Town Ladies, after a few weeks of struggling with getting a full squad together, resulting in heavy defeats, finally had the luxury of a full 14-strong team.

This showed in the way they played in securing a deserved 1-0 win over Dereham Town.

Had chances been taken it would have been a more comprehensive victory. Playing against a strong wind, Bungay quickly created scoring opportunities. Leo Dalby was put through by Lauren Mickleburgh's quick throw but sliced wide. Emily Leech skilfully beat two defenders but drove her strong shot wide.

The game became more even and Bungay were grateful to Cas Wright for two excellent goal line clearances as Derham made use of the wind to push Bungay back.

In the second half with some changes to playing positions, notably Annie Piper at centre-back and a new strike partnership, Bungay finally began to threaten the Dereham goal again with Emily Leech going close a few times. The breakthrough finally came, but from an unlighted source.

From a Bungay corner Dereham cleared the ball only as far as the waiting Jenny Head, and from the edge of the area she shot home her first goal for the team. Further chances were wasted, but most noticeable was the way the defence marshalled by Annie Piper kept Dereham well away from goal with captain Lauren Mickleburgh covering any gaps in midfield and driving the team forward.

Hopefully Bungay Ladies are now over the worse with team problems and can look forward to the rest of the season.

BUNGAY Town U13 Girls' season finally got under way with a home match against Bohemians. In the first half Bungay were playing into a strong wind and were unfortunate to find themselves 2-0 down early on, but could have easily been level with shots from Eva (bar) Rosie (post).

Bungay played some further neat football with near misses from Rosie and Chloe. Megan and Lauren battled well down the right with Titch in the middle, however keeper Katie found herself picking the ball out of the net again just before half-time to Bungay 3-0 down.

Bungay started the second half more positively with two goals from Chloe (penalty) and Rosie. With renewed optimism Bungay battled on but two further goals from Bohemians settled the match. Final score: 5-2. Good experience for the new girls to the squad Shannon, Charlotte, Vicky, Niamh and Hattie.

Here's hoping for better luck in the next match away to Waveney Girls on November 8.
