Norwich City midfielder Matt Gill is fighting to be fit to face former club Exeter City tomorrow.

Gill was withdrawn 10 minutes into the second half of the 4-0 Carling Cup win at Yeovil on Tuesday after taking a whack just below his ankle.

Team-mate Adam Drury was also taken off, with a dead leg, and now the pair are receiving treatment to be ready for the League One game at St James' Park. But City boss Bryan Gunn, speaking from the club's base in Exeter, said the pair should be available as the Canaries go searching for their first points of the season.

"Adam has been training, he got a dead leg and also got a kick on his ankle, but he came back to the training ground," he said. "Gilly stood out of training although he wanted to train. We're just giving him an extra day or rest and ice and hope he will be ready."

He's fighting to be fit with the opportunity to come up against his old club.

"He got a big kick just under the ankle bone but we've got a machine called 'Game Ready' which compresses and puts ice through and is one of these new medical toys that we have and both Adam and Gilly have been on that. They're sharing a room as well so it's made it quite easy for the physio to look after them."

Meanwhile, Gunn confirmed goalkeeper Declan Rudd has joined the squad after duty with England, while midfielder Owain Tudur Jones is also available after being part of the Wales squad which lost in Montenegro on Wednesday night.

"Owain Tudur Jones reported back at six o'clock in the morning from his trip to Montenegro with Wales. That's how keen he is to be involved at the weekend. He was in the hotel at six and on the training pitch at 10 o'clock with everyone else. The lads know there's competition for places and they need to be on the training pitch if they're going to be included for selection for the weekend."
