City skipper Mark Fotheringham suffered a double setback last night after grabbing his first goal of the season.

The midfielder was booked for the fifth time this season for "over-celebrating" his opening goal in the 2-2 draw against Southampton, likely to mean a one-match suspension for next Tuesday's trip to Wolves.

He was then substituted in stoppage time with an Achilles tendon injury and will be under treatment ahead of Friday's trip to Doncaster.

"There were a couple of kicks - and they are kicks as well. Fozzy took a bad one down the back of his Achilles," said manager Bryan Gunn.

"We looked at him and he wanted to soldier on, as he would do, but we felt it was an opportunity to get Carl Cort on and Darel Russell was able to fill back into midfield.

"But Fozzy will be in the treatment room and I'm sure the physios and the staff will make sure he's ready for Friday night."

Referee Lee Mason showed seven yellow cards - four of them to Southampton players.
