After re-locating to Norwich in August 2008 (after being an exiled supporter all my life) I finally had the opportunity to commit to a season ticket for the first time ever for my beloved Canaries. What a calendar year it has been, resulting in City's relegation to the third tier of English football with little direction and leadership from those in the halls of power being solely responsible for our current predicament.

I am encouraged by the fact that we now have board members that finally look like they have the capabilities to make tough decisions as we have seen over the last few weeks, sometimes football requires decisions to be made and the appointment of Paul Lambert will make the club stronger for sure.

I would personally like to welcome Paul to the club and the way he was “headhunted” without an interview speaks volumes for David McNally and his foresight also. Lets face it when the top teams in the country are recruiting a manager they know who they want and why should Norwich City operate any differently?

Pauls playing and managerial records shows us that he is more than capable of leading the club forward and hopefully growing our once great club to its potential once again. Win percentages at Colchester of 44% twinned with 40% at Wycombe (compared to Gunn's record of 28%) suggests he can walk the walk.

Upon arriving at Carrow Road last Saturday the decisions Paul had made by dropping our supposed star players was a massive decision, one that I am sure he would have got great criticisms for if the result had been different. The ethos of the team is paramount and a far better “team” performance it was. Watching Paul on the touchline reminded me of a certain M. O'Neill from even his stance on the touchline! He obviously is held in high regard by one of the best modern day British managers in the game and we are lucky to have him in my eyes. To see youngsters Korey Smith and Michael Spillane playing so well in new roles and Paul McVeigh turning back the years, all in all a fantastic day and foundations to build on.

Off the field let's hope we can attract the investment a club of our size and stature deserves,

hence backing Paul financially to make us successful on the pitch once again. With the Stowmarket two appearing to have less influence and hopefully less of the major decisions to make, with any luck this is another positive step towards a brighter future for City and its long suffering fans. In the national press it was interesting to read of David Sullivan and David Gold's supposed interest, now that would be interesting!

Never a dull moment following the Canaries since my arrival in “our fine city”!
