City chief executive David McNally has indicated that they are in a good position to re-sign goalkeeper Fraser Forster should Newcastle boss Chris Hughton allow the 22-year-old out on loan again.

“We would like Fraser to be back at the football club and we, as we do with most football clubs, have an excellent relationship with Newcastle, so we are in dialogue with Newcastle about the possibility,” he said.

“It may or may not happen - first and foremost he is a Newcastle United player and if he's in their plans for the forthcoming season then there's not a lot we can do about that.

“But we are in close dialogue with them and if he goes anywhere it is likely to be to Norwich City.”
