This is my first opportunity to write the weekly NCISA contribution and my first thoughts were not printable as I was relying on the Forum with Peter, first team action and transfer news.

None of these happened. There is one exception of course with the departure of Paul McVeigh.

Whatever has gone on these past few seasons we should all wish Paul well as he tries to resurrect his career at Burnley.

Not to worry Vic because Jeremy Goss rode to your rescue on two accounts. First of all there are “Congratulations” to you Jeremy on your promotion as Community Ambassador. Bryan Gunn fulfilled this role with great aplomb but I am sure that Jeremy will stamp his own style to this very important position at Carrow Road.

Secondly, thanks are due to David Cuffley for his excellent article on Jeremy in Evening News on Wednesday, March 21.

In this Jeremy takes a review of the highlights of his City career which brought happy memories flooding back. Not only the heady times in Europe but going right back in time to the youth teams triumph at national level by winning the Trophy in a sensational way.

At the time I was living in Harrogate but I did manage to get home for the 3-2 home triumph. We then lost by the same score at their place and the toss to decide the venue. I then made my way to Goodison Park for the Big shootout!

What made this even more special for me because on arrival I went straight through the main door only to be challenged by a “uniformed flunkey” who demanded to know what my business was.

I simply replied that I was there as a guest of the Norwich team's head coach, one Ronnie Brooks, (Sorry Ronnie) and was then escorted upstairs and shown to a very good seat to enjoy a truly remarkable game of football.

The crowd of some 20,000 were in no way partisan and they applauded the skill and commitment of both teams culminating in a standing ovation at the final whistle despite the home team losing out.

I seem to remember that after that game Dave Stringer signed the Everton striker. Whatever happened to “ Whatsisname” ?

Staying with the young stars of the future I was among the 4,000 at Carrow Road to enjoy a “feast of football”. As I saw the game the City youngsters produced an as near as perfect team performance as one could ever wish for.

All over the park there was so much to applaud and this includes those who came on as substitutes. Well done lads.

What stood out was their pride in the wearing of the “Yellow and Green” shirts. What a shame the England players could not follow suit 24 hours later.

Last, but not least, a thank you to those who stage managed this evening vis a vis tickets and pay on the gate. All the entry points appeared to be open and clearly marked, result no hint of a queue, unless someone out there knows different?
