Swiss international Reto Ziegler has been linked with a loan move from Tottenham to Norwich City - and boss Peter Grant admits he is an admirer.

A versatile left-sided full-back or midfielder, 20-year-old Ziegler joined Spurs from Grasshoppers of Switzerland in the summer of 2004.

National newspaper reports claim Ziegler, who has already had spells on loan at Hamburg and Wigan, will join the Canaries in January.

Grant admitted he had “expressed an interest” in the player but rejected reports of a deal.

He said: “It's not surprising that's been reported because, as I've said, I like balance in my side and he's a left-sided player with that quality and we're interested in quality players. But there is nothing happening.”

Ziegler has made 33 senior appearances since moving to White Hart Lane, but was loaned out to Bundesliga side Hamburg for more experience at the start of last season.

He returned to the Premiership to take up a loan spell at Wigan from January until May this year, making 13 appearances.

The most recent of his four outings for Spurs this season came in the 5-0 Carling Cup win over MK Dons last month.

A full international, Ziegler played for Switzerland Under-21s last season but missed out on selection for the World Cup finals in Germany.
