Grant Hanley is ready to bring his Championship experience to Norwich City, as a busy spell kicks off for Norwich City.

The visit of Birmingham City to Carrow Road today begins a 22-day period which features seven matches for Daniel Farke’s side, as the league season moves into top gear after the international break.

Hanley was City’s last addition of the transfer window and the former Blackburn defender, who has over 150 Championship games on his CV, is ready to get stuck in.

“If you speak to the lads who have played in it they’ll say that it’s tough,” said the Scotland international defender. “You have to get yourself going Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday, so it’s just getting yourself in the right frame of mind mentally to be able to deal with just the volume of games and then just physically make sure you’re ready.

“We’re probably quite lucky with the quality that we’ve got in each position so it’s about being ready when you’re called upon.”

Four points from five matches may have deterred some players from joining City but it has not worried Hanley.

“Obviously the club’s not started great or started how it wanted but teams do that all the time, it’s not a real surprise to anybody when one of the teams they thought would be up there don’t start great,” the 25-year-old continued.

“But especially in this league, it’s tough and it’s gruelling and a long season but there’s plenty of time to get that back on track and with the squad here, it’s definitely something that we’re capable of.”

The mood at Colney hasn’t worried the centre-back either, in the wake of the terrible 4-0 defeat at Millwall before the break.

“Since I’ve come in the mood has been great,” he said. “Win or lose it’s important to try and keep yourself on a level, there’s no point being over the moon if you win or being really low if you get beat.

“Since that game the lads have definitely levelled. There’s a lot of young lads but there’s still that experience in the dressing room that will try and keep things on a level and it’s important to keeping everybody focused.”

He is confident he will fit in with Farke’s possession-based style as well, adding: “Manager’s have always got their ideas and different ways they want to play, so it’s up to the players to take that on board and to do it to the best of their ability as best they possibly can.”
