Firstly, I must start by apologising to all those that took exception to my previous article on December 23. I apologise for having an optimistic outlook for the second half of the season, and by the looks of it, you were proven right.

Peter Grant has said after the game against Preston that he does not look at league tables. I suggest he ought to.

He is concerned more about the performances and the way we are playing. We are playing better football now, the problem is we are not getting results.

Things are getting a bit too close for comfort, at the moment, with us only being five points from the relegation places, we MUST start winning games.

I hope by the time you are reading this we will have just beaten Coventry.

I know we have two games in hand and that we feel we are too good to go down, but the reality is that relegation is a possibility now.

Peter has brought in some new players and shaken up the coaching staff. He is creating his own team both on and off the pitch and we now need to start seeing some results.

Peter Grant will say that we have been a bit unfortunate with injuries to key players at key times, the most significant, Robert Earnshaw.

I think we all feared the same, without Earnie, who would score the goals. This problem has not been resolved. We are playing better football now and creating more chances but we do not have a natural goalscorer.

Who knows what Earnie's tally would be if he were still fit!!

Chris Martin is looking a bright prospect with an eye for goal and I am sure it will only be a matter of time before we see his true goalscoring potential.

It is also encouraging to see some of our younger players being sent out on loan to get some first team experience and, more importantly, some football. Congratulations to Ryan Jarvis for his hat-trick on Tuesday night.

We at NCISA were sorry to hear of the departure of Doug Livermore, whom we had sponsored as assistant manager, and wish Doug good luck in whatever he chooses to do. If you have not had the chance to see Peter Grant in action, we are holding a forum, with Peter, on 22 March 7.30pm in the Norfolk Lounge.

This is your opportunity to pose your questions to the manager. The event is free to members and £2 to non-members of NCISA.

If you are not already a member of NCISA and enjoy the forums we bring to you, why not join at an annual fee of £2; this will entitle you entry into all our forums and events free of charge.
