BLUNDESTON MAGPIES U12 have always been a pretty side playing attractive passing football but their 3-2 win over Caister also demonstrated their battling qualities. After opening the scoring early and dominating possession it looked like the Magpies would cruise through the game. But a penalty saw Caister level the score and a shell-shocked Magpies watched the game pass them by. Before 20 minutes were up Caister were in front. Magpies turned the tables and with strong running from Chopper down the right and the tireless Foxy through the middle, Magpies reached the half-time whistle 3-2 up. With only 11 fit players for the second half, playing against the wind and up a slope, Magpies were tested. Caister were in total control and bombarded the Magpies' defence. But Jordan was in command of his penalty area and the defence held on by a whisker. Goals: Chopper, Stints, Ally. MoM: Foxy.

BOHEMIANS GIRLS U15 away to table topping Scole, needed a win to go top but three of their four strikers were unavailable. Bohs could have been two up in the first few minutes. A well worked corner saw Sasha power home and Libby added two more. At 3-0 up Bohs seemed in total control at the break. However a injury to the influential Ellen disrupted Bohs s and Scole reduced the arrears with a well taken goal before Natalie made the game safe with a surging run down the wing and strong finish.

Mollie is growing in confidence, Sasha is so solid and dependable and Hollie made a couple of really fine saves after taking a couple of hefty knocks. PoM: Natalie and Libby. Thanks to Alex Blakely who refereed very well. Next league match, Saturday, November 7, at home to Scole.

GORLESTON RANGERS U13A visited Loddon Grasshoppers and had to work extremely hard for the 5-2 victory. The hosts deservedly took the lead. Dan Deag's neat turn and left-foot finish drew Rangers level before Loddon again broke away to go in at half-time 2-1 up. The second half was a much improved performance from Rangers. Joe McCabe's impressive scoring run continued and the tireless Cameron Brooks put Rangers in the lead for the first time. At 3-2 Jordan Huggins made a great save to stop Loddon getting back in the game. Rangers' determination to win every ball enabled the hard working Cameron to set up Callum Batley who finished decisively, while Joe McCabe completed his brace. Man of the match, Connor Deeks. GORLESTON RANGERS U8A are looking for a goalkeeper, someone committed, who has played in this position, but must not be tied to any other club or wants a new challenge, wants to have fun and play in a great team. GORLESTON RANGERS U16B played Pakefield at home. Pakefield soon created the first chance. With Rangers counter-attacking, Pakefield kept the pressure on, but Rangers contained them well. A shot which beat Rangers keeper, Jamie, was cleared off the line, but a Pakefield corner just before half-time gave them the first goal. Pakefield increased their lead in the second half after a defensive error and went on to score two more. Rangers pulled one back when a corner was converted with a great header by Jim. Rangers pressed on, missing two good chances, before Dean scored their second to make the final score 4-2. Next, Rangers are at home to Mutford in the preliminary round of the cup.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10A played against a very good Rangers C Lynn Grove on Sunday. Rangers a soon took the lead with a great strike from Harrison C, Rangers C soon found themselves another goal down through an own goal. With the game being played at a fast pace, both teams were making some mistakes, Rangers A added a third, Harrison scoring. Both teams then stepped up the pace and Rangers C pulled one back after a mix-up. The team of TJ, Harrison, Jayden, Hazza, Markus, Alex, Callum, Harrison T, Tyler L and Diogo played some great football and in the end it was a deserved win. The final score Rangers A 3, Rangers C 1. Rangers A MoM: the whole team.

GORLESTON RANGERS GIRLS U11 were away to Dereham. A new formation for Rangers saw Beth go into defence and Mary into midfield. Aimee flicked a superb header over the stranded Dereham keeper for her first and slotted a superb shot home for her second. Mary weighed in with a shot from distance before Aimee completed her hat-trick. Mary added her second, Aimee her fourth and they then both combined with a move straight from training, throw in from Mary, flick on from Aimee and Hannah C rose well above the defence to place home her first ever headed goal. Rangers completed the first half with a Dereham own goal. Tatical changes at half time resulted in allowing a well beaten Dereham side back into the game, but the defence stood firm and some great saves from Izzy saw another clean sheet for Rangers. Hannah S looked back to her best, Jess and Neve were superb support players. GoM: Beth looked more than comfortable in her new role. Next match home to Firside, kick-off 12pm.

GORLESTON FC U7A entertained Hemsby Hornets A. Both sides played with enthusiasm creating an enjoyable game. All players were disciplined in their positioning which enabled the game to be free flowing. Both teams were high spirited and challenged each other throughout. GFC again used skills learnt in training sessions, improving all aspects of their play. Thank you to Johnny Gooch for refereeing.

GORLESTON FC YOUTH are looking for players to join this season's U12 age group at Emerald Park. This would be for players attending Year 7 at school. The team meet regularly for a fun, friendly and structured training session with our FA qualified coaches. HEMSBY HORNETS U9 STINGERS played in the league at home against Kirkley and Pakefield A. Hemsby took the lead quickly and continued to match K&P's speed and skilful passing play, combined with some excellent defending and goalkeeping. Shortly before half-time, the opposition caught Hemsby on the break and scored with a fantastic strike. It was quickly followed by a second. The second half saw a less impressive performance from the home team, not helped by a couple of injuries. Hemsby were struggling to close down the Kirkley attack and lost their positions, resulting in a couple more goals to and a final losing score of 4-1. The entire team, Archie G, Tom, Kahn, Ben, Jim, Archie S and Calum had given their all. It should not be forgotten how strong the opposition were and the K&P manager's comments at the end of the game should be taken on board by every player. Next at home in the cup, 10.30am kick-off.

BOHEMIANS GIRLS U11 entertained Mulbarton Belles at Cliff Park and went one down. Millie replied with a curling free-kick to equalise only to see Mulbarton score again from an acute angle. At the break Bohs were losing 2 -1. Briarnie took over in goal replacing the injured Olivia while Antonia played her best game to date, inspiring the team to pick up the pace. Ella, Indianna and Millie attacked constantly. Millie scored four goals as the Bohs defensive players stopped everything that Mulbarton could offer. Jordan, Georgia and Rhianna were solid in the second half, working well with the midfield to help the Bohs win 5-2. Player-of-the-match was Antonia.

BOHEMIANS GIRLS U12 played Scole Girls and won 3-0. The girls had to work very hard, the ball and ground was slippery and they needed to keep the ball under control at all times. Molly, Zoe, Leanne, Dayna and Martha worked very hard in midfield, keeping organised and strong in their positions and knowing where their team members were. The defence of Toni, Megan and Nicole had another great game not conceding any goalsl. Jacki had another great game keeping the team organised. Player-of-the-match: Nicole. BLUNDESTON MAGPIES U11 entertained Caister and suffered another 2-0 defeat, but the teams produced flowing end-to-end football. First half efforts from James, Matthew and Patrick went close, and then Caister hit a post from the penalty spot to give a goalless first half. Caister dominated the opening minutes of the second half, scoring their first and having another ruled offside. Matthew shot into the side netting and man-of-the-match Ryan skilfully attacked down the left wing on two occasions beating several defenders and narrowly failing to score. In between Matthew again went close from the right and a late deflected shot secured the points for Caister. A fine fingertip save from Sam prevented a third.

CAISTER U12 played Blundeston Magpies U12 who took advantage of the wind with plenty of opportunities but Caister defended well with Bradley Stark and Luke in the centre working well together. Tyler with a good run hit his shot wide after a good through ball from George. Blundeston went 1-0 up with a break through midfield. Kayne and the defence were determined to keep Blundeston at bay. Caister started to keep the ball and another great ball from George set Tyler on his way and a powerful shot was spilled by the Blundeston keeper for Bradley Baker to get the equaliser. James Smith was pulled down in the box to earn Caister a penalty. Captain Bradley Stark put the ball in the bottom corner giving Caister a 2-1 lead. Blundeston hit two goals before the break to make the half-time score Caister 2, Blundeston 3. The second half was all Caister who won every ball and dominated but could not take advantage to score. CAISTER U12 travelled to Waveney Sunday with only 12 players. They had a good start with good passing leading to a great goal from James from the edge of the box. Kayne in goal was pulling out some great saves from all angles to keep the Waveney forwards at bay. Caister had a good chance just before half-time from Bradley R who ran through the Waveney defence but just missed. In the second half Waveney got their equaliser with a free header from a corner. Minutes later a long shot from a Waveney player went through a wall of players to find the bottom corner of the Caister goal to make it 2-1. Caister battled well and a pinpoint through ball from James put Bradley R through to hit a shot inside the keeper's near side post to make it 2-2. Waveney finished up with three more goals with a penalty and two good runs from midfield. Final score: Waveney A 5, Caister 2. Man-of-the-match: Kayne, super saves in goal, goals James and Bradley R.

COBHOLM BOYS U12 entertained Sole Bay. Cobholm, against the wind, went 1-0 down. Cobholm played some nice football on the floor, bringing the Sole Bay goalie into the game. Cobholm still not concentrating for the full 30 minutes, soon found themselves 5-0 down. Second half with the wind, Cobholm competed well but then with poor marking and concentration, Sole Bay then made it 6-0. Cobholm still kept battling with Ryan and Harrison working together with Ryan finding the back of the net to make it 6-1. As Sole Bay broke forward, the Cobholm team left three players unmarked, which led to an easy tap-in to make it 7-1. Cobholm were then awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area which Hadley lashed home for 7-2 final score. Man-of-the-match: Hadley. Training Saturday 10am sharp, still plenty to improve on.

COBHOLM BOYS U8 started well against Gorleston Rangers A but again a few silly mistakes put them under pressure. Short on players this week, but those that played worked really hard, some good saves by Callum, who is improving week by week. Played a better second half again this week, a few contenders for man-of-the-match, but for good improvement, went to Riley.

GORLESTON RANGERS U14A continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over a good St Benets A side. St Benets were more alert and committed than Rangers and deservedly took the lead from a corner. At the restart Rangers lifted their game, finally getting the equaliser when Jack continued his scoring streak after powering in a header from Keegan's cross. Rangers scored the winner when Keegan found the bottom corner after Connor D had unsettled the St Benets defence. But St Benets did not give up and the defence were excellent in keeping the score as it was, with Jordan excellent at right back getting man-of-the-match.

GORLESTON RANGERS U12A played a battling Hemsby Hornets A eventually running out 6-1 winners. When we played football we looked good and should've scored a few more goals, but didn't due to a very good performance from the Hemsby goalkeeper. If we concentrate on what we are good at - pass and move - then we will improve our results. Having said that four wins out of five isn't too bad. Goal scorers: George (3), Isaac, Mikey W and Charlie. Training at Wroughton as usual on Saturday 9.30-11am. Next game Caister in the N&SYL Cup (kick-off 10.30am) at Caister Middle School. GORLESON RANGERS U10B played at Sole Bay. A good clearance from Aaron found Alex whose attempt went just wide. Two good opportunities from Henry and Ben were saved. A speculative shot from wide left by Alex beat the keeper to give the Bs a well deserved lead at half-time. A poor start from the kick-off in the second half saw the Bs lose possession and gave Sole Bay their first scoring opportunity. The Bs lost possession again to allow Sole Bay to score a second. Luis dug deep in defence and fed balls to Lewis and Joel up front but they could not force their way through. Alex and Ben had several attempts but could not get the deserved equaliser. Bs went down 2-1 in a game they should had won. Well done to all the boys and thanks to sponsors the Olive Garden Restaurant and Your Mortgage Solutions. Man-of-the-match: Ben Vasey.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10C playing against the A team suffered a 3-1 defeat. Max and Seb soon took control but the Cs could not break the As'solid defence. The Cs kept the scores level with some solid defending from Daniel and Bradley. They conceded the first goal following some sloppy defending from a corner, but began to create chances and both Jack and Max came close to equalising. Before half-time they were caught out twice from two fast counter attacks resulting in an own goal and a fine strike. The second half the lads started to play and the A team chances were limited. The Cs grabbed a goal following some very good play by Max and Jonny, which resulted in Jack scooping the ball over the keeper. Kaine provedagain what a valuable player he is with three superb saves. Thanks to Albert for another solid display of refereeing. Man-of-the-match: Max. Next game St Benets B in the cup at Lynn Grove (kick-off 10.30am). Any problems ring Dean.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10D entertained Waveney E with Captain Jack F and Callum making some fantastic tackles and brilliant clearances, protecting William in goal. Two minutes into the game Dan made a good pass into the area where Michael scored. The boys lost possession giving Waveney a chance to score. Joshua B came on and ran the left wing, having two good opportunities to score. Pedro came on and had a shot go wide and another go over the bar. Jack C put on some fantastic pressure and Josh B was making great passes. William saved well from a free-kick. Rangers were awarded a free kick which Dan took and was unlucky not to score but he did win a corner from which Jack C created more pressure. The second half saw Lewis taking centre midfield and distributing the ball well. Dan and Callum came back on and Rangers earned themselves a corner. Jack C took the corner and with a lot of pinballing in the goal area Jack ran onto the loose ball and scored a superb goal. Thanks to Paul again for his fair and unbiased refereeing. GORLESTON RANGERS U12B welcomed top-of-the-table Kirkley and Pakefield to Lynn Grove. Rangers gambled on playing into the wind in the first half. After three minutes they were a goal down. For the rest of the half both teams played well and it turned into a very good contest. The second period started with both teams playing good attacking football. Ten minutes in Rangers won a free-kick which was delivered brilliantly by Chris and met by a Matt header to level. Rangers put in many more attacks and after 24 minutes Max laid a great ball across goal which was finished off by Tom. The ref was knocked off his feet when he was hit by the ball but was able to continue. The whole team put in a great performance Man-of-the-match was Chris. Next game home to Burnt Hill (kick-off 10.30am), meet 10am. Any problems call Danny.

GORLESTON RANGERS U14A at Blundeston won 7-3. Rangers started slowly allowing Magpies to dictate the game, and they took one of the several chances they created to take the lead. Rangers were totally off their game, but equalised after a great run down the left from Connor D found Caine in the box to put beyond the keeper. Rangers were ahead when Alfie struck a superb shot from the edge of the area into the top corner after Daniel had set him up. Keegan then finished well after running onto Connor D's through ball to make it 3-1 at half-time. However, second half Magpies soon pulled a goal back, but Rangers scored four more times through Connor D (2), Keegan and Daniel with Magpies getting one in reply. Man-of-the-match: Rorie. Next, a cup match at Loddon (kick-off tba).

GORLESTON RANGERS U7 BRAZIL entertained Waveney D and started with a fantastic passing move. Within the first 15 minutes Toby scored four goals. The last one was the best, a rocket shot into the bottom left corner. Tristan had two electric runs and was really unlucky. Josh then hit the post and had a good run at goal. At the back Brazil looked strong with the ball not going past Harry once. Tristan started of the second half brilliantly with three good runs that almost led to his first Brazil goal before he then scored that goal that he thoroughly deserved. Toby hit the post and Josh and Kyle were all desperately unlucky not to score before Josh turned on the heat with two brilliant runs both ending in goals. Waveney scored with their first shot of the match in the last minute. Chester and Alex also had fine matches whilst sharing goalkeeping duties. Man-of-the-match: Tristan. Special award went to the brilliant Josh. Congratulations to Gary for his hard work and commitment.

GORLESTON FC U7B visited Gorleston Rangers A. GFC got off to a slow start and Rangers pushed them hard the first half with many goal opportunities. The second half saw GFC battle their way back, working hard to create many opportunities for themselves. GFC would like to thank their supporters and sponsors GLS and Simons Butchers.

GORLESTON RANGERS U9A had a disappointing defeat by a useful Bungay side 4-2. We had most of the possession and passed the ball around well, but not for the first time didn't make the most of our chances. A couple of lapses in defence from throw-ins saw us go 2-0 down. A deft flick from Connor reduced the arrears. George was unlucky to see his 20-yard shot beat the keeper, but rebound off the bar, Evan was unlucky not to knock in the rebound. With the defence pushing up too much Bungay scored two more goals, the second a great strike from 25 yards out. Bailey displayed great determination to ride a couple of tackles to ensure Rangers scored a second. Finlay, Joe, Jake, Bailey, Jack, Connor, Evan and George all can be pleased with their efforts. With four new players in the team this season, I'm sure that we will improve. Training is as usual on Saturday at Wroughton First School, Beccles Road entrance 11.15am-12-30pm. HEMSBY HORNETS U10A played a very strong and good Caister. Owen was alert and his handling was superb. Hornets clicked and carved out chances for Hadley, Connor and Sam, meanwhile Brady and Nathan worked hard to ensure no easy chances were given away. Billy's pace caused big problems down the wing and Dominic played various roles. Hornets lost Brady for the second half and with Brennan unable to play they had no subs, so Dominic partnered Nathan at the back and the boys worked very hard. The football was at a very high standard and the passing and movement was superb. Then a great move involving Hadley to Connor to Billy and a great pass from Dominic found Sam in the area and from a tight angle he brilliantly slotted the ball under the advancing keeper for the lead in the final minute. The parents couldn't single one player out so it was decided that the Cover-Wright Decorators man-of-the-match was the whole team, although Sam took the trophy home for scoring the winner.

HEMSBY HORNETS U7B hosted a hard-working Mutford United. Hemsby started with their midfield controlling the opening period and the defenders stopping any Mutford attack. Second half saw the visitors gain control and pressure the Hemsby defence. Another good team performance but players must remain aware of their positions. The game was played in good spirit and was well refereed. Training continues on Saturday mornings at 9.30am. Tommy will contact players/parents with details of the next match.

SHRUBLANDS U10A started slowly against Blundeston. Charlie W kept a clean sheet with some great one to one saves. Mohammed, Elliott and Kian working in defence kept Blundeston's shots to a minimum and some quick breaks and passing saw the Blundeston defence torn apart by Shrublands. The midfield is working well together but need to involve the defence in their play. Goals came from Henry, Cody, Scott and Kelvin and some great opportunities were missed by Charlie T and Harry, but it will come. Blundeston battled to the end but a strong Shrublands kept up the pace. Final score: 4-0. Man-of-the-match: Henry. Next match away to St Benets A (kick-off 2pm) in a cup game.

SHRUBLANDS U13 visited Halesworth with just 11. They used the pace and skill of Olly and Mazza down the left and right wing to provide some great crosses but failed to score. Halesworth punted the ball up field and one of their players volleyed it so that it landed in the top corner, 1-0 to Halesworth. Shrubs came back strongly. Tommy fizzed a great ball through to Mazza who blasted a shot past the keeper for 1-1. Kay gave a great pass to Olly who won a free-kick. Daniel floated a great ball to Coby on the six-yard box who perfectly timed his header into the top corner. The match was put to bed when Daniel smashed the ball upfield to Jackson who came round the back of the left back to smash it in to make the score 3-1. Norfolk & Suffolk Roofing man-of-the-match went to Kay for an awesome game at left back.

SHRUBLANDS U10B hosted a spirited Freethorpe side, Shane and Adam causing the defence plenty of trouble. Shrubs Owen slotted past the keeper, Adam finished with aplomb after good work by Shane. CJ and Courts dealt superbly with everything at the back, only allowing one effort which was brilliantly stopped one-handed by Westie. Owen's second goal was a wonderful team goal with the ball moving through every player. Shane claimed his first, tapping in an Adam shot off the woodwork Owen got his hat-trick with a run from his own box beating every one at least once before slotting past the keeper. Freethorpe kept fighting even after losing their goalkeeper with a head injury. TJ was tireless midfield. Shane rounded off the scoring cutting inside his marker and slamming the ball into the top corner. Man-of-the-match: Owen. Next match is a cup game against Loddon at home (kick-off 10.30am).

STALHAM U10 played Soccer Stars at home on Sunday. Once they got going they played some very good football for most of game. Their manager is very proud of them. Troy, Harry and Sean were fantastic linking up going forward and Jake, Chris, Daniel and Joseph were fantastic at the back. Ryan, Matthew and William all did a good job when they came on. The score at half-time was 1-1. Disappointedly Stalham conceded four goals in the second half from set pieces and lost the game in a result which flattered the opposition.

STALHAM U12A played Sprowston, scoring after just five minutes with some excellent passing between Will, Dom M and Aiden who finally laid it off to Adam to smash into the roof of the net. Stalham kept up the pressure but just could not find the net. Sprowston's keeper was outstanding and their defence continuously worked hard. In the second half Aiden made it 2-0 when he went on a brilliant run, battling through to smash it into the back of the net. Ryan then battled through and placed the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0. Jake put in a super corner that Ryan attacked brilliantly to make it 4-0. A nice one-two between Aiden and Ryan allowed Ryan to make it 5-0. Will then laid a good ball off to Aiden to finish in the bottom corner to make it 6-0. Adam passed a great ball to Ryan who played Jake in to make it 7-0. Finally Ryan won the ball from a goal kick and placed it past the keeper to make the final score 8-0.
