Arsene Wenger was an interested spectator as City's Academy U18 side held their Arsenal counterparts to a goalless draw at London Colney.

The Gunners' manager took in most of the second half of today's encounter and he was treated to some quality goalkeeping from Steve Arnold who had a trial period with the Premiership outfit before joining the Canaries as a scholar at the start of the current campaign.

It was not all one-way traffic however, with David Williams' side creating a few good chances themselves including a Chris Martin free-kick after just three minutes that was only just wide of the target.

In fact, City had the better of the first 45 minutes, with the pace of Bally Smart causing the whole defence plenty of problems. Minutes before the break, Arnold had to be at his very best to stop the Gunners going a goal up with a great double save.

The City defence needed to be at their very best after the break, with Arsenal stepping up a gear, but stood firm, with Andrew Cave-Brown again catching the eye. The home side found it difficult to break through, and even when they did they found Arnold on top form, producing two or three good saves to take the Academy to four games undefeated.
