Halford hopes fade for City

Norwich City's hot pursuit of Colchester United's England Under-20 star Greg Halford could yet end in disappointment as United's latest FA Cup success boosts the Layer Road coffers.
For hard on the heels of their third round success against Sheffield United, Colchester racked up a second Championship scalp in the shape of Derby County this weekend with right-sided midfielder Halford again taking centre stage.
Saturday's 3-1 win over the hapless Rams was Colchester's 18th win in their last 20 games - enough to book their place in today's fifth-round dra when they have every chance of pitting themselves against one of the Premiership big boys. With the prospect of that attracting the interest of the live Sky TV cameras - with a seriously big cheque to boot - Colchester may have even less need to listen to Norwich's offers.
“Some people see the Cup as a hindrance, and it can be with the volume of games,” said Parkinson.
