Things are looking good at Norwich City – and that’s what is really exciting one of their summer signings.
Highly-rated Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed will spend the season on loan at the Canaries and despite having to play pre-season catch-up since making the move, the 22-year-old is already showing what he can bring to Daniel Farke’s group.
“This opportunity is massive for me,” said Reed. “I thank the manager and Stuart Webber for bringing me here, and giving me the opportunity to impress during pre-season – and hopefully I can play a lot of games for the first team this season and really improve my game.
“I’ve had a couple of seasons where I haven’t got the games I’ve needed and would have liked, so it’s massive for me to come to Norwich. There’s a great standard of football here and the philosophy suits me down to the ground, so it’ll be great to improve my game here week in week out, and really test myself.
“We’ve done a lot of the stuff with the ball, which is great. His philosophy is possession and keeping the ball, so we’ve done a lot of drills based on that.

“But it’s pre-season so there are runs too. The lads are conducting themselves very well and putting the work in, so it’s great.
“I think you should expect some very attractive football, a lot of chances being created and hopefully not so many goals being conceded – and we’re really excited as a group, to be working under the new boss. We’re looking forward to it and the fans should too.”
It’s certainly been all-action for the midfielder, taking a very heavy challenge on his victorious debut at Lowestoft on Saturday and being taken off with a hip complaint, late in the 2-2 draw with Stevenage on Tuesday night.

“I’m fine,” added Reed. “I just think I’ll have a rest day and get some work in with the physio, and then I’ll be back to it.
“I’m being worked extremely hard. I came in a week and a half into pre-season so I was a little bit behind. I’ve been stepped up quite rapidly but I’m adapting to it and looking after my body away from the pitch, so I’m enjoying it a lot.
“There were some robust challenges but that’s what you want to see. They are friendlies but you want to play how you want to play. That’s what you expect when the season comes, so we’ve got to get ready for that.”
