Speaking on the new addition to his squad, City's Caretaker Manager Jim Duffy told the club's official website: “I am delighted to sign a player with John's experience. The situation we are in demands players who know how to operate in the positions they play. John fits the bill, is a strong character and has a proven track record at the very highest level.”
The 32 year-old Swansea born forward joined the Baggies from Celtic on a two-year deal at the beginning of last season scoring twice on his debut against Hull.
He began his career at Luton as a trainee before moving to Arsenal and then West Ham, where he notched up 33 goals in 73 appearances before moving to Wimbledon for a then club record fee of £7.5 million in January 1999.
Hartson had a brief spell at Coventry before Martin O'Neill took him to Parkhead where he helped win three league titles, two FA cups and one League Cup as well as gaining Champions League experience and playing in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.
The 2005-05 season saw him score 20 goals in 41 games for Celtic before he moved to The Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee.
His Welsh career has seen the 6'1" striker score 14 times in 51 appearances for his country.
