For a player who had his career reignited by Norwich, a player who was given a chance in the Premiership at a time when legends departed, and a player who saw his club stick by him despite his injuries and personal problems, I find his behaviour more than mildly irritating.

Still, at least the training budget can go further now the very large order of barn doors can be cancelled.

The board needs to disclose its summer transfer activity, or lack of it.

While the starting 11 have rightly earned their positions, should any not be available for duty then I fear their replacements are not to the desired standard in many cases.

At the end of last season, senior officials within the club spoke of needing at least three new players.

The manager was public in his hunt for a left-back.

Following the departure of Greeno, we heard of the need to bring in another keeper. In many cases, we've heard plenty and seen nothing.

Have we learned nothing from the failures of our paper- thin squads? We struck lucky in our promotion year, and then tempted fate the following year - a big reason why we are back in this division.

Just as worrying, however, was our apparent willingness to splash £2m on a striker.

I, for one, was not unhappy to hear that Wigan gazumped us for David Cotterill at the last minute.

With £2m we could easily strengthen our weakest areas with talented players from the lower leagues eager to prove themselves.

If Norwich are indeed committed to the current formation, then to splash the cash on a bench player is totally insane when so many other positions need strengthening.

I know that the loan system offers an opportunity, but it's a gamble - a gamble that sees us already relying on a loan keeper.

Many fans have commented upon the departure of Steve Foley and the introduction of Martin Hunter as a major catalyst in the rejuvenation of our team.

Hunter, without question, has been superb, but to compare this season with last season under Steve Foley's coaching is laughable.

Foley's footballing philosophy was pass and move, something he encouraged and demonstrated with great passion and enthusiasm.

Perhaps the disasters of last season should be blamed on those that seemingly demoted him to the position of training ground ball-boy whilst others coached the first team.
