I sat in front of the TV on Sunday evening, eagerly awaiting the fourth round draw for the FA Cup. I say eagerly awaiting because with all the ad breaks and stats that you have to endure whilst watching football on ITV it felt like an eternity!

Eventually they got round to it as we were being drawn against West Brom away, I just said “Oh, well that’s not very exciting” but who knows what will happen on the day and Saturday’s league game may give us some indication. As many fans, I was hoping for another home tie against lower league opposition to give us more of a decent chance of reaching the fifth round but as I say you never know what will happen. I have to keep remembering that we’re actually quite good away from home and not rubbish like we used to be.

What I did find interesting was the way we played last Saturday. I thought it just showed how far we’d come in 20 games. We dominated from start to finish and looked a class above Burnley and would have looked even better if we’d gone up another gear or two!

To be fair to Burnley they weren’t a bad side. What I was so impressed about was our starting line-up, apart from Dani Ayala and Declan Rudd, was the same as the one that got us promotion.

I thought it was significant that Lambert played the diamond formation, almost as if to test the team against a side we played last year to give us a guide of how far we’d come and we passed the test with flying colours, there was even time for Wes to get a few tricks out.

It felt a bit more relaxed too, maybe because we’ve now got used to the pressures of playing in the Premier League and having a week’s break from it came as a bit of a pleasant change.

It was also nice to see a lot of different supporters there. There weren’t many of the regular season ticket holders around us and with the competitive ticketing price policy the club employed it gave those who maybe can’t always get tickets or who can’t afford to pay 35-45 for a Premier League game a chance to see the team play.

So hopefully we’ll pick up two wins in two weeks at the Hawthorns to move us further away from the bottom three in the Premier League and progress to round five of the FA Cup.
