Now the line-up for the 2017/18 Championship is finalised, DAVID FREEZER takes a look at the distances Norwich City supporters will be travelling during the league campaign
Good news Canaries fans, you’ll have over 200 fewer miles to travel when watching the Championship battle unfold away from Carrow Road next season.
With Huddersfield triumphing in the play-off final, planning for another campaign of away days can begin.
That is thanks largely to three long journeys north being lost with the relegation of Blackburn, Wigan and Rotherham being replaced by two fellow northern clubs in Sheffield United and Bolton but London side Millwall adding a shorter journey.
It will still mean almost 8,000 miles on the road for City fans though, roughly equivalent to flying to Indonesia or the Falkland Islands – although there may not be many fry-ups at farm shops en route to those destinations.
The shortest journey, unsurprisingly, is the 45 miles to Ipswich followed by 120 to the New Den to face Millwall and 125 to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.
The longest remains the 276 miles to Cardiff City, ahead of 253 to the Stadium of Light to play Sunderland and 244 to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City.
All of which leaves us to wait until Wednesday, June 21, to discover which order those journeys will be made.
