I think we can safely say the honeymoon period is well and truly over for Peter Grant.

After a promising start against Birmingham and Cardiff, we've seen the old Norwich come back to haunt us in the last couple of league games.

The obvious problem is the size of our squad. We get a few injuries and we are struggling.

Leading up to today's game against Sunderland, we look to have a defensive crisis with Dion Dublin possibly moving into central defence alongside Jason Shackell if neither Gary Doherty nor Craig Fleming are fit.

The January transfer seems a long way off but I have a feeling it could be a very busy time at Carrow Road. We all know we don't have the biggest squad in the world or money to burn, so it may be that we have to see players leave before we see new one arrive. I also think there may be one or two surprises - and not necessarily just with players coming in.

At least Grant will have had a few months to decide which players he wants to keep and whom he wants to let go. I think there should be a few players in the first-team squad - and not just the fringe players - who should be a bit worried and will certainly need to raise their game over the next few weeks.

No doubt the new manager will be working very hard leading up to January to identify which players he wants to bring in and what positions he feels needs strengthening.

It's good to see that some of the younger players have and will be given a chance in the first team.

Grant stated in his first week here that if the players are good enough, he's not bothered about their age.

Robert Eagle has definitely grabbed his opportunity and he made a good Carrow Road first-team debut on Tuesday night. It would be nice to see him be given a run in the side as he will undoubtedly get better and better.

With the likes of Michael Spillane, Rossi Jarvis and co waiting in the wings for their opportunity, the future looks bright.

A word must also go to Dickson Etuhu, who has scored two spectacular goals in the past two home games.

Credit has to go to him for the way he has played this season after his less than impressive first season. He has become that box-to-box midfielder who can score goals that we were initially promised.

Let's hope he's made it a hat-trick of spectacular goals this afternoon.

After seeing the leagues attendances published last week, it's good to see the Norwich fans sitting pretty at the top.

We always knew we were the best, and now so does the rest of the league!
