Hoolahan the bait in swap deal - claim

Norwich City are reportedly prepared to part with Wes Hoolahan in an effort to sign Alan Lee on a permanent basis. Lee is on loan from Championship rivals Crystal Palace, where he has fallen out of favour with manager Neil Warnock. However, he has been an instant hit at Carrow Road and has already expressed a desire to stay next season. A south London newspaper claims City will try to make that happen, as long as they stay in the Championship - and say that a swap deal involving Hoolahan could be enough for Palace to part with the Republic of Ireland striker.

Hoolahan joined City last summer after being chased by former boss Glenn Roeder, who was impressed with him in performances for Blackpool against City.

And while he took time to settle, he had started to show signs of his undoubted talents only to be the victim of a tackle against Plymouth five weeks ago that left him with ankle ligament damage - and ruled him out for the rest of the season.

City boss Bryan Gunn has plenty of left-sided cover - although not all of the players are club assets: David Carney is on loan from Sheffield United, Ryan Bertrand is a Chelsea player and Alan Gow is here on a short-term deal from Rangers.
