Gary Hooper is in search of the eighth club of his career after leaving Wellington Phoenix - with the former Norwich City striker reportedly close to a move to India.

The 32-year-old leaves the New Zealand based club having scored eight goals in 21 appearances after signing as a marquee player ahead of the 2019/20 A-League season.

Hooper, formerly of Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe United, appears to be edging closer to a move to Kerala Blasters - with the striker set to sign a one-year deal with the club.

Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC also displayed interest in Hooper, according to reports in India. He was linked with a move to the Indian Premier League prior to signing for Wellington, and it appears he will now make that step.

Hooper played 70 games for City across a three-year spell with the club - scoring 20 times before moving to Sheffield Wednesday. The forward signed from City in 2013 under Chris Hughton.
