Darren Huckerby insisted he was still in the dark over his Norwich City future after helping them to a valuable victory over Burnley.

Huckerby will make his 200th appearance for the Canaries if he plays in the derby at Ipswich next Sunday, with just three more Championship fixtures after that to wrap up the campaign.

But asked if there was any news over a new contract when his current deal runs out at the end of the season, the double player of the season winner replied: “You know as much as I do. That's the honest truth. No one's spoken to me. I'm not trying to put the club under any pressure. If they want to do something, they can do it, if they don't they don't.

“I hope I haven't got to prove anything now. If the club came to me and said 'That's it, Darren, we've had a great time' that's life and I wouldn't hold any grudges. I see myself working for the club some way down the line in the years to come so it's not a problem to me either way.”

Huckerby, who will be 32 later this month, was involved in both goals against Burnley, starting the game on the right flank but spending most of it on the left after a swap with Matty Pattison during the first half. “It wasn't my choice. I'll play where the manager wants me to play,” he said - but he was especially pleased to set up the opening goal for former Coventry team-mate Dion Dublin.

He said: “We've been playing a long time together and we've contributed to each other's goals over the years, so I'm delighted for the big man to get a goal.”

Next week's derby game will give Huckerby a chance of a City milestone.

He said: “It's a massive match and it would be my 200th game next week as well.”
