The ex-City star returns to MLS side for another season with the San Jose Earthquakes next week, and has been topping up his fitness levels by training with City.
“Hucks has come out and said he fulfils his contracts, which is commendable, and he's going to go back to the States next week,” said Gunn.
“We've got our priority in terms of making sure the team's right, but he has an open door to come in and train with the lads, which will be a great fillip for our young players as well to have somebody like Darren Huckerby working hard alongside them.”
