Norwich City have reacted to their poor defensive record in the early stages of the season by bringing in Scotland international centre-back Grant Hanley for a reported £3.5million.

Following a poor performance in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Millwall the Canaries have conceded more goals than any other Championship club after five games.

Shipping 12 is worse than only newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers, who have conceded 10 in five, and sporting director Stuart Webber has moved to bolster head coach Daniel Farke’s squad.

Scotland international Hanley, 25, has signed a four-year deal and becomes the 14th signing of the transfer window as Webber and Farke totally revamp the City squad.

After a miserable start to the two-week international break following the Millwall debacle, the signing has largely been welcomed by supporters as attentions turn to getting back on track at home to Birmingham City on Saturday, September 9.
