Ipswich Town are understood to be considering a move for former Norwich City keeper Remi Matthews this summer, if Bartosz Bialkowski departs this summer.

Matthews still has a year remaining on his Bolton contract but, with the Trotters currently in administration and set to start next season with a 12-point deduction in League One, he could potentially move on.

The 25-year-old, is originally from Gorleston and came through the Canaries' academy system but didn't make a senior appearance and was sold to Bolton in January.

Matthews had returned from a good League One loan at Plymouth and had chances during pre-season in 2018 but Dutch international Tim Krul was signed on a free transfer and the keeper joined Bolton on loan with a view to a permanent switch.

That almost collapsed and Matthews returned to Colney to train with City for a short spell in January before Wanderers managed to complete the deal.

However, with wages consistently paid late and Bolton relegated amid financial chaos and a potential takeover, it's unclear whether their players will have the potential to move on this summer.

Matthews became number one for Wanderers during the second half of the season and was named man of the match as Norwich won 4-0 at the University of Bolton Stadium in February, saving a penalty and making a string of saves as his outfield team-mates put in an abject display.

Championship clubs Hull and Charlton have also been linked by the Press Association and the East Anglian Daily Times report that Ipswich boss Paul Lambert is keen on Matthews, having signed Tomas Holy from Gillingham on Friday.

The EADT adds that a number of Championship clubs are interested in Bialkowski following the Blues' relegation to League One, with Birmingham having a long-held interest.

Dean Gerken is being released at the end of his deal and former Canaries boss Lambert is understood to be keen to have three goalkeepers in his squad, with Holy and academy graduate Harry Wright currently on the books in addition to Bialkowski.
