Rob Nizet grabbed the local bragging rights with a late winner as Norwich City Under-23s beat Ipswich Town U23s in a friendly.
The Canaries development squad took on their Tractor Boys counterparts in a behind-closed-doors game at Town’s training ground on Friday evening.
Matthew Dennis, who joined this summer after leaving Arsenal’s academy, was the first to test the home keeper and Melvin Sitti, who was signed in January but remained on loan with Sochaux in the French second tier, fired just over the bar.
William Hondermarck turned in a Nizet cross just before the break but Ipswich equalised in the 53rd minute after a slip from Nizet. The Belgian left-back fired a late winner though, from 20 yards after being teed up by a Reece McAlear free-kick.
City U23s starting XI: McCracken, Vaughan, Omobamidele, Tomkinson, Nizet, McAlear, Giurgi, Sitti, Omotoye, Dennis, Hondermarck
