A letter from Barry Skipper, Vice Chairman NCFC.

Achieving more column inches in the last week or so, than I had hitherto managed previously in almost 10 years on the City Board, has given me cause for reflection.

That said, I must preface these comments in the time-honoured way of most supporters, by reminding readers that I have been coming to Carrow Road since 1949 so I have been keeping the faith for well over 50 seasons.

All that statement does is register my passion for Norwich City full frontal with everyone else's. Both those for and those against, my views on the current issues.

As a member of the Board who discussed the manager's situation with 15 games to go, I agreed with all my board colleagues, that making a change at that stage of the season was not the solution to the extremely disappointing times we are all experiencing.

Six games later, 10th in the league with 10 more points, as Delia and Michael have said this week, the board's view remains the same.

In the course of trying to communicate this information, with considerable assistance from the media, I have allegedly likened our fans to those who abuse nurses and implied that fans who demonstrate outside the ground are thugs.

Not exactly what I said and certainly not in context, but if remarks attributed to me have offended any of our fans, then I sincerely apologise.

But what now. There are two distinct views, with a united board who just six games ago told both the fans and the manager that he was staying - since when there has been no material worsening of the club's position - and those supporters who persist in demanding a change. A continuing debate is in danger of producing a divisive stand off, incapable of being resolved satisfactorily.

However, given we are all fans of Norwich City, let's call a truce and start pulling together for next season by taking as an example the 15,500 season ticket holders who (as we have acknowledged) come from both the for and against camps and have shown their commitment to the Club by renewing their tickets.
