Norwich fans have had their say and this weekend the club will be running out to a rousing new tune at Carrow Road.

Last season the Canaries ran out of the tunnel at each home match to One Vision by rock band Queen.

However, the club wanted a fresh new sound for the 2007-08 season and teamed up with Radio Broadland to find a new song which will hopefully spur both fans and players alike on to many home victories.

They received hundreds of nominations in the first stage of the competition, from old songs to classical music, rock and jazz.

Six of the most popular songs were short-listed and staff and players at Colney were kept up-to-date with every step of the process.

However, the track which summed up fans' desire to win promotion was Kasabian's Club Foot.

With more than 2,000 fans voting in the competition, the song beat Queen's We Will Rock You into second place by 34 votes.

It was the Leicester band's first chart success in May 2004 and already has links to football after it was featured in the film Goal! in a match between Chelsea and Newcastle.

Will Foy, brand marketing manager for Norwich City, said: “We got hundreds and hundreds of nominations - some fitted the bill better than others and Kasabian won by quite some distance.

“It's a good choice and hopefully it will be inspiring for the players.

“We do everything we can at the football club to build up the atmosphere, whether it's using the scoreboard, the PA system of through entertainment.

“When the teams come out of the tunnel we want them to be met with a wall of noise which inspires our team and is intimidating for the other team.”

Mr Foy said the club had also carefully picked the other songs and music to be played before the match starts.

When Peter Grant took over as manager The Proclaimers' (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles started to be played during the pre-match warm up as a tribute to his Scottish roots.
