The 28-year-old is set to link up with Steve Clarke’s Tartan Army for two Nations League fixtures against Israel (September 4) and the Czech Republic (September 7).

City will travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town in the Carabao Cup first-round on Saturday, September 5 and will be without a host of first-team options.

McLean joins Tim Krul, Michael McGovern, Jamal Lewis, Przemyslaw Placheta, Adam Idah and Jacob Sorensen in missing the Canaries first competitive game of the new season.

Kieran Dowell, Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons, Oliver Skipp, Ben Godfrey, Danel Sinani, Bali Mumba, Josip Drmic and Teemu Pukki could all be called-up for their respective countries in the coming days.
