Kenny McLean believes Norwich City are timing their run to perfection, after helping them earn victory at Rotherham.
The Scot’s opening goal on the stroke of half-time and Ben Godfrey’s swift response to Semi Ajayi’s 52nd-minute equaliser, completed a sixth successive Championship win for the leaders – the first time in Canaries history the club has achieved that feat twice in the same season.
With an extended gap at the summit and just eight games to go once the final international break of the campaign is over, McLean was left beaming at City’s current position – after a win at a treacherous New York Stadium that seemed to mean a little more than those before it.
“I think the closer it gets to the end of the season, it will be like that,” admitted McLean.
“We’ve put ourselves in a brilliant position with things in our own hands, and that’s all you can ask for.
“It’s is an exciting time for us and the club, the fans. It’s brilliant to be a part of it. People have spoken about pressure and stuff, but we’re just enjoying it. We would rather be where we are than anywhere else in the league, so it’s something I think we just need to take in our stride and just keep enjoying.
“You could see it was a tough game, tough conditions, but we dug in and showed our resilience at times – and the quality came when we needed it.”

McLean provided that quality himself, with a well-taken goal and then the corner that assisted Godfrey’s match-winning header.
The Scotland international now has three goals in his six games, since returning to the first-team fold – six games that have all resulted in victory.
“It’s all right,” smiled the 27-year-old. “I don’t care who scores them and if I score them, then it’s a bonus. But you just need to put yourself in that position.
“I’ve played in midfield and that’s what midfielders should be doing, getting in the box and scoring goals. So right now I’ve scored in my last few games and long may it continue.
“Personally it’s obviously an excellent afternoon but it’s all about the team. That’s what it’s always been throughout the season and that’s what it will continue to be until the end of season.
“This was such a team performance, this spirit we’ve got and the togetherness – we’ve shown it week in, week out. And right now we’re on an excellent run with the momentum we’ve got.
“At this stage of the season, to put these wins together is brilliant.”
