Lynn started brightly and took the lead with only nine minutes on the clock. A loose ball was collected by Nolan who in turn fed Jack Defty on the 18-yard line. The big man's first time ball was met by O'HOLLORAN whose sweet shot beat keeper Thompson with ease.

The home side continued to hold the upper hand but were rocked back on their heels as Cirencester's GRIFFIN slammed a 25-yard free-kick past Higgs for an unlikely equalising goal.

Lynn attempted to regain the initiative with Jack Defty heading wide a Nolan centre and then lobbing a weak chipped effort directly at Thompson when he should have done much better.

The Centurion's though remained dangerous with Griffin causing the Lynn defence problems. On 40 minutes Cowe demonstrated Cirencester newfound belief as he beat two Lynn defenders before firing wildly over the home side's bar.

Jack Defty was denied by a fine Thompson block and with the goal gaping the Centurion stopper foiled Anselin from two yards.

Just before the half-time break Jack Defty with only Thompson to beat fired straight at the keeper from a yard.

t Half-time: Lynn 1, Cirencester 1

Home manager Tommy Taylor rung the changes during the interval introducing Charles and Charlie Defty for Anselin and goalscorer O'Halloran.

However, the visitors were first to show with Griffin again testing Higgs with a tremendous first-time effort which the home keeper did well to claw away for a corner.

Lynn again went ahead on 49 minutes via the trusted boot of Nolan, who was first to react after McMahon's initial shot had cannoned back into play after hitting the visitor's left-hand post.

Again Cirencester responded with the dangerous Griffing grazing Higgs' left-hand post with the home stopper scrambling.

On the hour great Jack Defty individual skill looked to have won the Linnets a penalty. However referee Mr Reeve decided the offence had occurred on the edge of the area, thus awarding a free-kick, which saw Smith rattle Thompson's bar before the ball rebounded away to safety.

The game then opened up with various half-chances falling to both sides.

However neither keeper was overly extended. McMahon failed to test Thompson sufficiently from a spot-kick, and for the visitors Halliday glanced a header high over the Linnets bar.

Lynn maintained decent possession for the rest of the match and held Cirencester mainly at arms length.

This was a very valuable three points collected from a match that will not live long in the memory.
