Late penalty is a boost for Norwich

An injury-time penalty from Elliott Ward earned Coventry a 1-1 home draw against Barnsley - providing a major boost to Norwich City's hopes of escaping relegation. The gap between Barnsley and Norwich City is now two points, with Barnsley at home to leaders Wolves on Saturday and away to Plymouth on the final day.

A controversial injury-time penalty from Elliott Ward earned Coventry a 1-1 home draw against Barnsley - providing a major boost to Norwich City's hopes of escaping relegation.

Barnsley had led for most of the game after a Daniel Bogdanovic. Had they won they would have been four points ahead of the Canaries with two games remaining. Instead the gap is two points, with Barnsley at home to leaders Wolves on Saturday and away to Plymouth on the final day.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey was furious, claiming Bobby Hassell had blocked Freddy Eastwood's shot with his chest, not his arm.

Also last night, Reading won 2-0 at Derby to take the pressure of themselves for their visit to Carrow Road on Monday, and bottom club Charlton drew 2-2 with play-off chasing Cardiff - after leading 2-0.
