Oldham boss John Sheridan insists his Coca Cola League One promotion chasers must hit top form to avoid a potential FA Cup giant killing.

Sheridan has warned the Latics they are on a hiding to nothing in front of the television cameras at The Walks.

"Everyone wants an upset," said the former Republic international. "I think we can go there and win, and so do the lads. We're on television for a reason - we know that and we expect a very difficult game.

"The boys are taking the match very seriously and we'll certainly be treating them with respect. If we play like we have been doing then I don't think there'll be a problem."

Sheridan was impressed with his scouting reports on the Southern Premier Division outfit.

"King's Lynn are a good footballing side with one or two ex-league players," he said. "They've got Matt O'Halloran who used to play for us, and Dean West, who I played against when he was at Burnley. They will have a bit of information on our lads, and there'll be a big crowd behind them on the night. I don't know what the weather's going to be like so that could be also be a factor."

The Oldham chief would settle for any kind of win to continue his side's upwardly mobile curve.

"We should never look at winning two, three, four or five nil," he insisted. "A lot of people will be expecting us to win, but we must go there and be professional. It's a good tie for them. They'll believe they can win, so good luck to them - there's nothing wrong with that. I'll just be concentrating on what my lads are going to do."

Talented full back Neal Eardley has ruled out any complacency.

"The only reason we're on television is because people want us to lose," said the Welsh U21 international. "Hopefully we can prove them wrong and get a good win. That would give us even more confidence ahead of the next league game against Crewe.

"The boys did really well at Huddersfield and have been turning in some good performances of late. Hopefully that'll carry on, give us some confidence moving forward, and help us stay in the play-offs."
